Caramelized Baked Chicken Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Marinade:
    • In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, minced garlic, ground ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the ingredients are well mixed.
  2. Marinate the Chicken:
    • Place the chicken breasts in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.
    • Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring all pieces are well coated.
    • Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
  3. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Bake the Chicken:
    • Arrange the marinated chicken breasts in a baking dish, discarding any remaining marinade.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and has an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Basting the chicken with the juices in the dish once or twice during baking will help keep it moist and flavorful.
  5. Caramelize the Chicken:
    • After baking, switch the oven to broil.
    • Place the chicken under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the top is nicely caramelized and has a deep, golden-brown color. Watch closely to avoid burning.
  6. Garnish and Serve:
    • Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
    • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or cilantro.
    • Serve with your favorite side dishes, such as rice, vegetables, or a simple salad.
